An annual math competition. Students can join this ASA to prepare for the AMC competition and challenge their math thinking.

Bring your sketchbook and get ready for an exciting art class especially designed for beginners to budding artists, alike. We will learn great techniques and materials to ensure that each person can succeed with whatever style they enjoy. All art materials will be provided, but please bring a sketchbook with good quality paper

Come with friends or come to make friends. We'll be discovering a whole new world of games with cards, dice, and little bits of wood known as 'meeples'. You'll need to use your brain as you try out bluffing games, deck-building games, economic games, strategy games, area-control games, dexterity games, abstract games, escape room games and co-op games... to name a few. Each week we will introduce a new game and gradually build up a library.

Our ultimate aim, beyond having some fun together, will be to plan and create a board game caffe at OSC run and managed by OSC students.

Cycling is a great way to keep fit and enjoy the peaceful countryside...unless you are disturbed by clicking gears, brakes that fail to work when you need them, wobbly wheels and other common complaints from bikes that need some love and attention. This activity aims to take you through some simple procedures that will help to ensure your bike is set up correctly and safe to ride. We will cover brakes, drive train, wheels and bearings along with optimal positioning of the main contact points of saddle and handlebars. You can bring your bike in if you can, or just learn from mine!

A group dedicated to the art of cabaret! Come for an audition so that we can rule the stage with acting and singing!

Are you interested in Chinese culture? In the Chinese culture club, you will try Chinese calligraphy, Chinese chess, and make different Chinese arts. Are you a dumplings lover? We will also try some Chinese cooking. More than that, you will try traditional and fun Chinese sports- Jianzi, Chinese Yo-yo, and Martial arts. No Mandarin skills are required! I am looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

Do you like playing classical guitar music? Are you frustrated with always playing alone? Well, if you have 2 years or so experience at learning classical guitar, this is the ensemble for you. Mr. Marlon Perera, OSC's guitar teacher, and an expert guitarist, will direct this ensemble. You will learn to play beautiful classical pieces in 3 parts and will perform as part of the Gala concerts during the year.

The Colombo Model United Nations is a simulation of the United Nations protocol and procedures. It is a student led activity that contributes to the empowerment of the youth in the local community. COMUN, is sponsored by OSC and involves the training of students from schools in Sri Lanka, in leadership qualities with the aim of striving for an empowered youth. COMUN provides OSC students with opportunities assume leadership roles and the responsibility to find solutions to real world problems.

This ensemble (no audition) is open to students in Grades 6-12 who already play a wind, brass, string or percussion instrument (no guitars or recorders). They should be able to read music on their instrument in order to cope with the material we will learn (apart from percussionists).

A program designed to encourage and recognize student participation in extracurricular activities. This year OSC is going to be introducing the DOE’s Bronze Award for Grades 9-12 and in subsequent years we plan to offer the more demanding Silver and Gold awards. Students need to demonstrate engagement in four segments: Physical Recreation, Skills, Service, and the Adventurous Journey. Some of these will be addressed in other ASAs (SAISA and service, for example) while skills and the adventurous journey will be addressed in the DOE ASA and on two designated weekend trips (there will be modest fees associated with these trips). Students can sign up for one session on two possible dates and this will go on for the two first ASA sessions with the final adventurous journey booked for May 202. The DOE Award is a prestigious award promoting self-discovery and is a useful badge of merit to have when applying for university and seeking employment.

Come join us to learn more about the French language and culture. Club activities include playing games, listening to music, cooking and tasting French cuisine and more.

These activities may be less formal and competitive than Gecko Athletics, but you will still be required to wear EITHER your PE Kit or other acceptable sporting wear (shorts, t-shirt, trainers).

Using Questagame and eBird students log the biodiversity in and around the OSC Campus

FIRST® LEGO® League guides you through STEM learning and exploration. From Discover, to Explore, and then to Challenge, students will understand the basics of STEM and apply their skills in an exciting competition while building habits of learning, confidence, and teamwork skills along the way. 1 hour practice per week to research, build and program robots to complete the challenge. Yearlong commitment. Students will have to work extra hours if needed, during lunch times.

A knitting club for a group of 4 or more people that get together and knit or crochet. Knitters of all skill levels are usually welcome. Being part of a knitting group is great way to meet with like minded people around a craft.

空手 [empty or open hand] is a traditional Japanese Martial Art. Learn new skills and strengthen your mind and body through Karate. Sensei Harrison has taught Karate for over 25 years around the world. Come try it out. Please wear loose fitting clothes

The kendama (けん玉, "sword [and] ball") is a traditional Japanese skill toy. It consists of a handle (ken), a pair of cups (sarado), and a ball (tama) that are all connected together by a string. On one end of the ken is a cup, while the other end of ken is narrowed down, forming a spike (kensaki) that fits into the hole (ana) of the tama. The kendama is the Japanese version of the classic cup-and-ball game,^[1] and is also a variant of the French cup-and-ball game bilboquet.

This will be a fun chance to explore any aspect of language you are interested in and we will also learn some digital tools to help you with some linguistic analysis.

Stressed out? Studies show that coloring produces many of the same effects as meditation including reduced heartrate and positive changes in brainwaves. Mindful, Meditative Coloring is a way to relax and be present in the here and now by focusing on color and pattern choices while coloring. Join us for some calm, creative time each week.

Students will develop a MineCraft based community where they will work together to build a civilization and protect itself from natural disasters and predators. Within this community students will explore the open wilderness to find shared resources and treasures in hopes of creating villages and shops that all can use.

Create a one-of-a-kind stuffed monster from socks! Each student will design and create their own monster based on the directions in the book Stupid Sock Creatures. This is a hand sewing project, but anyone with a little coordination and a lot of imagination should be just fine. Socks provided!

Adjusting to the changing demands of the MYP can be a challenge. This ASA will be time for you to work with an MYP teacher to help you navigate your Homework, Task completion, ManageBac, Google account and activities. Find balance and peace of mind, invest in your own well-being. You can do it!

Feeling nostalgic of past productions?! Of developing a role? Taking on a character? Or just miss creating drama? Then this activity is for you! Together we will devise small pieces of performances as well as take existing scenes from play texts to present, and hopefully we will be able to showcase our talents at the end of this semester. I envisage plenty of theatre through the use of movement, voice, lights, sound, costume and props, so bring your energy, ideas, confidence, and come join us!

As a book club students will read books that have a strong focus on the SDGs. This will lead to raising awareness about the SDGs through the books they are reading. As the club matures they will set goals and make connections to units they are studying in class, SA, and the services they are involved in.

Come join us to learn more about the Spanish language and culture. Club activities include playing games, listening to music, cooking and tasting Spanish cuisine and more.

The OSC STEM club is a gathering of students that meets regularly to work on inquiry-based Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related activities.

The String Ensemble brings together like-minded individuals with a passion for music-making. The group strives to develop in its members musical skills of detailed listening, awareness of blend and color and ensemble coordination. Through performances and collaborations the String Ensemble hones the character of the OSC Geckos and seeks to develop values of responsibility, resilience and empathy.

(Open to students that play violin/viola/cello with approximately Grade 5 ABRSM/Trinity or equivalent experience )

Students will work on their journalism skills to create OSC's first online newspaper for students by the students!

The Student Literary Magazine will collect and publish the creative work of our student body. Students who are interested will form the editorial board of the magazine and will work to encourage creative expression in English, in translation and in mother tongues and select work for publication. Together we will design and publish a digital and print magazine.

This fun vocal ensemble (no audition) is open to all grades. Come along and sing some fun rock and pop songs on a Thursday lunchtime!

Open to all students in Grades 9-12, by audition only. If you are already a member of this group, you do not need to re audition. This is the most senior performing ensemble in OSC, and we sing beautiful harmonised arrangements of popular and jazz songs with instrumental accompaniment.

This vocal ensemble is open to girls in grades 6-8, by audition only. If you have previously auditioned for this group, and been accepted, you do not need to re-audition. A sign-up sheet for auditions will be posted in January when we return.

The yearbook club is in charge of producing the annual OSC Yearbook. Open to all students in Gr 7-12.
