The academic year runs from mid August to mid June and is divided into two semesters for assessment purposes. This provides 180 days of instructional time with two main vacation periods. Semester one commences in August and ends in December. Semester two commences in January and ends in June.
 

In Early Years, the school aims for a target of 15 students with a teacher and an assistant teacher in each class. This number may increase to 20 at the discretion of the Head of School after consultation with the Primary Principal.

From Kindergarten through to Grade 12, the school aims for a target of 20 students. This number may increase to 24 at the discretion of the Head of School in consultation with the relevant Principal.

The School timings are 8.15am to 3.30pm except on Wednesdays when there is an early dismissal at 2.30pm. Daily drop off time is 8:00am and pick up time is from 3.15pm onwards.

The school has a cafeteria facility operated on the campus by a private catering company. Students are able to purchase drinks, fruit, sandwiches, assorted savoury and sweet snacks, and a main dish at lunch times. A canteen app is available where you can load up money onto your child's account and you can print a copy of your child's QR code and give it to your child so your child can go cashless for lunch.

Students have the option of either bringing a packed lunch or purchasing lunch through our cafeteria. All students (apart from Early Years), eat their lunch together in the canteen under the supervision of staff. The school has water fountains situated around the campus with fully filtered water. 

The school does provide a user-paid bus service. There are alternative routes available, details of which can be obtained from the Admissions Office. Supervision is provided by the bus company on these buses.

No. OSC is a school for day students. There are no boarding facilities for students.

OSC does not have a school uniform. Students should be dressed modestly, in a manner that promotes a healthy work environment, respectful of the various cultures we represent, and in a way that does not distract from teaching and learning. 

Dress code will be in force any time the student is on campus for an activity, including weekends, and for all school field trips. It is hoped that our students are empowered to make sensible choices with regards to their clothing and that ultimately they feel comfortable in their clothes and those that others are wearing.

The School operates on a policy of “No hat, No play”. If students are playing outside at break, lunch, or during PE lessons and after school activities, they are required to wear a hat.

Students are required to change into a PE uniform when taking PE classes. This comprises a house t-shirt (red, blue, green or yellow), black OSC shorts and appropriate shoes. For swimming, girls should wear a one piece full fitting swimsuit with shoulder straps and boys appropriate shorts above knee length. Swim caps are required for all students. House T-shirts and selected items of OSC clothing can be obtained from the school shop.

In Early Years and Kindergarten, students incorporate ipads into their learning. From grade 1 through 4 students have individual Chromebooks and then move into proper laptops in Grade 5. Students are provided with school owned technology devices from Early years upto Grade 4 to be used within the classroom.
Students in grades 5 to 12 are required to bring their own laptop. Requirements for purchase of laptops are listed on our website and the school provides all required software for the duration of the student’s enrollment. 
 

In Secondary School, the primary tool for learning and teaching is Managebac. Teachers use it daily for posting lesson plans, unit plans, assessments, grading, and attendance. 

In Primary School, the go-to tool for learning and teaching is SeeSaw. Managebac is where teachers post their lesson plans and communicate with students daily through see-saw. Students are able to publish their works through the see-saw app or the browser. Primary school also uses Managebac for registering attendance, issuing report cards, and parent communication.

The school considers the health and safety of its students to be of prime importance and has a full-time qualified doctor on the staff and maintains a health office.

If your child has special educational needs please let us know before filling out an application so that we could start communicating with you about your child’s particular needs and inform you what documentation to include in your child’s application.  OSC does have the ability to meet mild learning needs.

We ensure that the school remains a secure and safe place for families. Students and parents are provided with ID cards which must be presented to security officers before they enter the premises.

Our faculty represents an international body coming from Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, France, India, Ireland, South Africa, Sri Lanka,Taiwan, UK, USA & Venezuela.

At OSC, the relationship between parents and the school is a strong partnership. Parents are on campus everyday making meaningful contributions. There are class parents, parents who listen to children read, parents as chaperones on field trips and a very active School Community Network (SCN). Our annual Food and Fun Fair, Blue Gecko Cafe and United Nations Day celebration are all organized by our involved, supportive parent community.

The OSC Newsletter is published on the OSC website every Friday. 

Managebac is our online communication tool for assignment deadlines, assessment submission and feedback. This student academic learning platform facilitates communication between teachers, parents and students.  

At the start of the academic year we hold a ‘Meet the Teachers’ evening where parents can find out more about the academic programme and other opportunities for students. At the mid-way point of each semester there is an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers at the 3 Way Conferences.

You will need to complete and submit the online application form via www.osc.lk 

OSC adopts a rolling admissions process and accepts applications throughout the year.  For semester 1 or August enrollment, we begin accepting applications from February of the same year. For mid-year enrollment, qualified students may be admitted on a rolling basis based on place availability. We begin processing second semester or January enrollment from October.

You can pay the non-refundable application fee online through the admissions portal. You can also pay by bank transfer or arrange to come to the school and pay by credit / debit card. 

• Copy of last two School Reports.
• A completed OSC Medical Form.
• A General Recommendation – Required for students from Grade 1 to 5 only.
• Confidential Recommendations from English and Mathematics Teachers and Administrator (Principal or Counsellor) – Required for students from Grade 6 to 12.
• Official School Transcript – Required for students of Grade 9 to 12.
• Records for a student who has received special services or has been in a special educational programme must be submitted together with any educational testing results.
• A copy of the student's passport.
• A passport sized photograph of the student and parents.
   

Once the application has been submitted it will be reviewed by the Sectional Principal and will be followed by an interview with the Principal. When a decision has been made on a candidate’s application, parents will be notified of the decision within 48 hours.

Yes, when we have more applications from qualified applicants than currently available places, these applicants are placed on a waiting list; parents are contacted as soon as a place becomes available.
