Changing Culture
Changing the culture at OSC began with a significant shift in our hiring practices. Recognizing the need for diverse leadership, we formed a search committee that included DEIBJ committee members and focused on applicants' experience in DEIBJ work. This inclusive process led to the appointment of a secondary principal who embodies our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our professional development initiatives further reinforced this cultural shift. Every school employee was invited to participate in training sessions led by experts like Darnell Fine, Alysa Perreras, and Jennifer Beckwith, covering topics such as implicit bias and white supremacy. These efforts have transformed our community, fostering an environment where inclusion is not just an ideal but a practiced reality.
