| Our
sports teams are called “The Geckos”. We are
more of a force to contend with than our name may imply!
At OSC we encourage our students to participate and excel
in both individual and team sports. Our experienced sports
teachers will ensure the very best level of training for
all students in many sports. The sports facilities are excellent.
We have a large playing field which converts into a 200m
athletic track when we host the regional track and field
competition and it is also used as a soccer pitch and cricket
oval. An open-air covered gymnasium houses basketball, volleyball
and badminton courts. In our primary playground there is
also a basketball court. From 2005, the Primary Hall will
be used for early childhood P.E. classes for study units
such as movement.
We belong to an International Sports Conference called SAISA
(South Asian International School Association) and we compete
in sports events with other International Schools in the
South East Asian Region from Pakistan, India, Nepal and
Bangladesh. Our sports teams include swimming, track and
field, soccer and basketball. “The Geckos” travel
to a different SAISA country every year in order to compete
and in this way are exposed to different cultures and values
and form new relationships. For internationally mobile students,
meeting peers in other countries who are living the same
lifestyle as them is important.
