OSC celebrated its 50th year of existence during 2006-7. Apart from the yearly events OSC also hosted several events organized by the alumni. The celebrations begun with Founder’s Day on 22nd September 2006 where we unveiled the 50th Anniversary Commemorative Mosaic Wall. Our invited guest of honour was the late Sir Arthur C Clarke. The alumni association organized a Reunion Christmas party as well as a Reunion in London in January 2007.
The National Day Celebrations in February consisted of cultural performances by OSC children involving the children of the community service projects. The Food and Fun Fair usually held in March had more cultural performances, talent shows, and a souvenirs and Sri Lankan Handicrafts Fair.
The 50th Anniversary Celebrations ended with a grand finale charity ball held at the Hilton Colombo, which was organized by the 50th Anniversary Committee with input from the alumni. It included dinner, dance and a silent auction. Along with all the fund raising done through the 50th year anniversary and some individual contributions, the school raised a staggering amount of 40,000 USD for the construction of the RCCI (Rehabilitation Centre for the Communication Impaired) building.
